Cajun Shrimp and Rice Skillet are a one-pot excellent of flavorful shrimp and rice with a Cajun seasoning that the entire family will enjoy!
The Cajun Shrimp and Rice Skillet isn’t something I usually would make in the winter. Not that you couldn’t — but I guess when I think of shrimp, I think of times spent at the beach growing up, eating fresh seafood at the town restaurants. My whole family loved shrimp and we ate it for as many meals as possible.
Seafood is so versatile. also I love tuna, salmon, and seafood combos, I’m sure you’ve come to realize, I might just like shrimp the most. I’m very happy to eat shrimp in just about any form, from savory to sweet, in tacos and on the grill, on salads, and in one-pan meals like this one. Since I love shrimp, but also love the ease of one meal perfectly cooked in a skillet, this recipe just did it for me. And as my empty skillet can attest — it seemed to have satisfied every member of the family as well.
WHAT IS CAJUN SEASONING MADE OF?
CAJUN is a term used to explain the Acadians, who did the French colonists who first lived in a region of Canada recognized as Acadia. Homemade Cajun Seasoning is the best. I mix 2 parts garlic powder, 1 part each from Onion powder, Oregano, thyme, paprika, chili powder, peppercorn, and peppercorn. Put everything in a food processor and whisk a couple of times. The seasoning should remain a little coarse. You can always adjust the spices as per your preference.

Cajun Shrimp is so delicious and I always make it as an appetizer. Comes together in 10 minutes and tasted amazing. Use a cast-iron skillet while making Cajun Shrimps and stir-fry the shrimps for 4-5 minutes on high heat. Tossing in high heat gives a nice smokey touch to the shrimps.
Simply add Cajun Shrimps to your favorite pasta and Cajun Shrimp Pasta is ready in no time. You can make Cajun Shrimp tacos with it. You see, the possibilities are endless.
1/ Whisk together all of the ingredients for the cajun seasoning. Melt 2 tablespoons butter in a wide skillet over medium heat. Stir in garlic, half of the cajun seasoning, and the rice.
2/ Stir in chicken broth, bring to a boil, reduce to a simmer, and cover. Cook for 15 minutes, stirring 1-2 times throughout.
3/ While rice is cooking, prepare the shrimp by stirring together the remaining 2 tablespoons melted butter and remaining cajun seasoning. Pour over shrimp and toss to coat.
4/ Mix shrimp into the rice, cover, and cook 3-5 minutes longer until shrimp is pink and opaque. Garnish with chopped parsley if desired and serve.
For fried shrimp, you can saute the shrimp in the pan at the start of the recipe, transfer to a plate and cover to keep warm until the end, then stir into rice and serve.

TIPS FOR MAKING CAJUN SHRIMP AND RICE.
Start with collecting all the ingredients for the recipe. Fresh Shrimps and Frozen Shrimps, both would work for this recipe. If using Frozen Shrimps, then thaw them and get rid of any extra liquid. Add some Cajun seasoning and let it rest for 10 minutes.
Use a pan that is large enough to hold rice after it gets cooked. Too small a pan and rice will not get prepared properly.
Heat oil in a pan. Add Shrimps to the hot pan and cook each side more 2-3 minutes. Remove from the pan and set aside.
Join chopped onion and minced garlic in the same pan. Once the onion starts to brown add tomatoes. Cook further 5-6 minutes till everything come together. join chopped bell pepper, soaked rice, and Cajun Spice mix. join warm stock, cover, and let it cook in low heat.
When the rice is cooked 3/4th, join shrimp and let it cook for another 8-11 minutes. When done, switch off the fire and let it rest for 10 minutes. Before serving use the fork and gently separate rice grains.
CAN WE FREEZE CAJUN SHRIMP AND RICE?
It can simply be refrigerated like any other rice dish. You can divide into small portions and do the meal prep as well.
